For family members with loved ones still struggling with addiction, it can be a time of stress, sprinkled with moments of hope. And for those who have lost a loved one, the holidays are often a time of relived loss but with remembrance...


Policy Corner  

Friends of Recovery – New York has recently developed two exciting new trainings to help build recovery capital and spread the message of hope in recovery.  The trainings are “Building your Recovery Community Organization from the Ground Up” and “The 45 Second Elevator Pitch.”



TC Commons Youth Clubhouse Opens in Chemung County

RCOC Spotlight: New Voices Recovery Community & Outreach Center

In this month's RCOC Spotlight, we're pleased to introduce Voices Recovery Community & Outreach Center located in Binghamton. FOR-NY spoke with the folks at Voices and its parent organization, Fairview Recovery Services, to learn more about this important new community resource.  



Youth in Recovery Empowering Each Other through the Statewide Network “Youth Voices Matter - NY”

Youth Voices Matter NY, a new youth-driven movement created by the Youth Peer Recovery team of FOR-NY, has been traveling throughout the state meeting with young people in recovery willing to serve as Youth Leaders in their communities. These leaders will be reaching out to their peers to offer assistance and help address which resources, services and supports are needed for young people in recovery. One of their tasks will be planning fun, youth-driven events called “Pop-Ups” to promote health and wellness while expressing the unique and diverse flavors of each community.



NIAAA Introduces Online Treatment Navigator

The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse & Alcoholism (NIAAA), the leading U.S. agency for scientific research on alcohol and health, has introduced a new online treatment navigator designed to help adults find treatment for themselves or an adult loved one. Click here  to learn more.

Family to Family Recovery Research Guide in the Community - FLYER COPY

The response to the Family to Family Recovery Resource Guide has been fantastic! In addition to the approximately 350 downloads to date and untold number of copies made and distributed by individuals and organizations around the state to date, links to the guide have been posted on more than a dozen websites and shared widely on social media. Please help us ensure that this valuable resource makes it into the hands of every family who may need it now or in the future, by letting your communities know it's available.
