A Letter from Stephanie Campbell Friends, On Wednesday, June 21, the Legislature is scheduled to wrap up its 2017 legislative session. As of this moment, we know that many of you have reached out in support of the Governor’s legislative package, which we hope will be adopted by members of the Senate and Assembly. Several proposals build upon our efforts to address the heroin and opioid public health crisis, and offer relief to families desperate to get their loved ones into treatment and recovery. Stories of Recovery This month's recovery story comes from Woody, a young man whose struggle with addiction led him to years in and out of jail and living on the streets of Rochester in between. Since finding Recovery he's been committed to giving back what was so freely given to him and volunteers extensively in the community. Pathways of Recovery: Integral Recovery Integral Recovery is a fairly new, holistic approach to recovery. One of its founders and the author of the book “Integral Recovery” (SUNY Press), John Dupuy will present a workshop on this pathway at the #NYSRecoveryCon in October. READ MORE | | | |
Peer Professionals In the March issue of Recovery Talk we reported on what it takes to become a Certified Peer Recovery Advocate (CRPA) and that The Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) had announced funding to cover the associated costs.
